Do the nomarks descend the ladder quickly or slowly, if sufficiently slowly they may have time and money for the next generation to rise - or at least not fall further. If this were true we would expect to see a swelling of the numbers of families in the upper wealth bracket and at the bottom. This does seem to be the case.
